French term

ECPA (Échelle comportementale pour personnes agées)

French to English Medical Medical (general) Medical Prescriptions
Hi,
I am translating medical prescriptions with a list of pain scales. I have translated all of them except ECPA as I can't seem to find an official translation. Does one exist?
ECPA = échelle comportementale pour personnes agées
Thanks
Joanna

Peer comment(s):

agree philgoddard : This doesn't appear to be specifically Canadian, so there won't be an official translation for it. //pascie does have a point about 'persons'.

exactly, this is why I have kept the original with the explanation

neutral pascie : Elderly is sufficient to name this group of persons, no need to add 'persons'. Actually the age group in reference is 'Older Adults (60-90+).

ECPA / FaB-FC (Can. : Falls Behavioral Scale for the Older Person)

Canads is - excluding indigenous languages - a bilingual French /(non-pidgin) English country. So it would be odd if there weren't a rough English equivalent or 'approximation' to such scale.

BTW, FaB is nowt to with the Fab Four 4's last and latest Beatles release this month.
Example sentence:

Like the original FaB, the French Canadian version of the tool (FaB-FC) is valid and reliable for assessing fall-related behaviors.

Peer comment(s):

disagree philgoddard : It's nothing to do with falls - this is about determining pain from physical behaviour. The tool you reference is called FAB-FC, not ECPA.

disagree pascie : not about falls but about aggressive behaviors with elderly.
