English term

Demonstrator Lab

English to Persian (Farsi) Social Sciences Management
It investigates the micro-foundations, or, specific origins, of the dynamic capabilities of university technology transfer by studying two UTT cases at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in Netherlands: the Industry Alliance Office (IAO) and the Demonstrator Lab (D-lab).

@Mohammad Ghaffari Apparently, you are referring to my proposed equivalent, which is off-topic here. Anyway, صنعتی on that phrase refers to being 'demonstratable' to the industry (potential buyer) that is present in the name of the lab, NOT part of the meaning of 'prototype.' Check the definition of the term 'demonstrator' already provided in the comment under your proposed equivalent.

Mohammad Ghaffari Apr 16, 2023:
It would be helpful if you add references for using نمونه صنعتی as a translation for prototype in authentic Persian texts.
Kourosh Fallah Apr 16, 2023:
Manufacturing, prototype, demonstrator Manufacturing is "the business or industry of producing goods in LARGE QUANTITIES in FACTORIES, etc."
https://www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/definition/englis...

A PROTOTYPE is "an EARLY SAMPLE, model, or release of a product built to test a concept or process."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prototype

"Demonstrator" is a person that DEMONSTRATES a product (such as an automobile) used to demonstrate performance or merits to PROSPECTIVE BUYERS.

آزمایشگاه کارآفرینی

Then Demonstrator Lab is the entrepreneurship laboratory where you can transform your ideas into a tangible product or service. Demonstrator Lab is a learning-by-doing environment open to students and staff members. Its goal is to foster an entrepreneurial culture in Amsterdams higher education ecosystem and to boost research driven innovation by giving its members the opportunity to get their feet wet at no cost.

Thank you
disagree Kourosh Fallah : Enterpreneurship labs (آزمایشگاه کارآفرینی) are for creation of STARTUP COMPANIES, which is different from a DEMONSTRATOR lab, although there are similarities.// "https://mitsloan.mit.edu/action-learning/entrepreneurship-la..."// PS: tit-for-tat?!!

I disagree with your equivalent too. Please check the reference that I shared.

آزمایشگاه تجسم‌بخشی/تجسم ایده‌ها

Entrepreneurship laboratory for transforming ideas into innovative products and services
Demonstrator Lab is a learning-by-doing environment open to students, researchers and staff. Its goal is to foster an entrepreneurial culture within the Amsterdam higher education ecosystem and to boost research driven innovation.

Participants enter the lab at the very early phase of the idea-to-market process. Demonstrator Lab supports their participants throughout this entire process: from forming a team, to developing a prototype. From working out the most efficient marketing strategy to find the resources needed to deploy that strategy. Participants have the opportunity to get their feet wet at no cost. Supported by a vast network, Demonstrator Lab provides them with the business tools to explore whether an idea can make it. As the saying goes, there is no failure: you either succeed or you learn.

Based on these lines, and especially with reference to "developing a prototype", I suggest "آزمایشگاه تجسم‌بخشی", but keeping it in English is also okay.

We can translate it in other ways as well, such as "آزمایشگاه پیش‌نمونه‌سازی/نمونه‌سازی" (they develop prototypes (پیش‌نمونه/نمونه اولیه) there, after all), or even "آزمایشگاه نمونه‌سازی خلاقانه", but since "demonstrator" talks about the idea in a general way, I'd personally go with something like those I suggested.

disagree Kourosh Fallah : Demonstartor is "a person who DEMONSTRATES a product (such as an automobile) used to demonstrate performance or merits to prospective buyers"// https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/demonstrator//, The suggestions are not accurate.//PS: "creative"?!!

It's about Demonstrator Lab, not "demonstrator" alone (https://demonstratorlab.nl). I tried to come up with something similarly creative in Persian. Besides, I have thoroughly explained the reasoning behind my choice. So, let's agree to disagree.

I just added the meanings of 'manufacturing' and 'prototype' in the discussion area to clarify them.
Peer comment(s):

disagree Mohammad Ghaffari : As far as I know, نمونه صنعتی in Persian refers to a manufactured product, so this interpretation is kind of limiting D-Lab's scope. Some of their projects like ImRheo (here: https://t.ly/G_bW) would be out of scope then.

'A manufactured product' is INDUSTRIALLY produced, in large quantities, not نمونه. You example aims to build a PROTOTYPE rheometer, a device to measure fulid properties, in a uni lab. May I suggest reading things carefully before becoming 'creative'?
disagree Fahimeh Mohsenizadeh : If you check the explanations about Demonstrator lab, you can see that the main feature of this lab is to grow creativity and new ideas but your equivalent doesn't convey this meaning

If you've read the post, you'd have seen that reference is right there! You're speculating (overtranslating) which could lead to mistranslation. Transltors are not at liberty to change things based on speculation or thinking that it would look fancy.
