English term

school officials

English to Spanish Art/Literary Psychology Manipulative people
Context:

he expressed concern to the school officials that she might have some learning disabilities.

Note: The reviewer questioned my translation for the term 'school officials'

I only had one part that really seemed more like Spanish Spanish (from Spain) rather than Mexican Spanish and my husband agreed. On page 57, in the 2nd paragraph it talks about "personal docente" and farther down in the same paragraph, "los docentes." I understand that he means the schools staff and teachers but my husband and I both agreed that we have never heard it used like that in Mexico. The staff would simply be "el personal" or "personal de la escuela" and "los docentes" (teachers) would be maestros or even profesores. That was really the only place that the language seemed out of place but obviously we could get it from context.

Can you provide an argument which proves that the term 'personal docente' is accurate and correct in Latin America?

Thanks

directivos escolares

María, the terms "personal docente" or simply "docentes" are accurate in Latin America. In Cuba is widely used. In thhis case, however, I would only use "directivos de la escuela", pointing at the decision makers, not just the teachers or professors.
Example sentence:

La preparación del personal docente en correspondencia con las exigencias de la sociedad reviste singular importancia y requiere de la sistemática revisión y actualización del currículo de formación.
