French term

traversée endoluminal

French to English Medical Medical (general) Cardiology
Hello again,

Nearing the end...

I know that endoluminal recanalization is a type of intervention that can be used during angiography, but I'm not sure how to word "traversée endoluminal" here:

Il y aura par la suite recanalisation de l'occlusion fémorale superficielle. Celle-ci est traversé endoluminale.

Would it be appropriate to combine the two sentences (below), or would I be missing something from the source text?

"Next, endoluminal recanalization of the superficial femoral artery occlusion was performed."

Thanks !

@ Sue - thanks for this reference! So you would recommend common femoral, femoral (tout court), and deep femoral in this current situation?
Sue Davis Nov 2, 2017:
@Denise this is a useful ref from reliable source, see slide 9 for terminology - https://www.ncvh.org/pdf/2015 NCVH/5-30-Sat/0810_Robert Atta...
Denise Pavao (asker) Nov 2, 2017:
Thanks Sue. Good to know. My doc distinguishes between the the common, superficial and deep femorals, so I kept the distinguishing terms.

An occlusion in an underlying diffusely diseased vessel would make it difficult for the guidewire to traverse the occlusion intraluminally

though strictly speaking endoluminale is an adjective not an adverb
Note from asker:
Thanks Sue! I also came across references to "crossing the lesion" etc. and when I Google "crossed intraluminally," I actually get 157 hits vs 24 with "traversed intraluminally." Of course that doesn't necessarily mean it's more correct, only more common : )
