Levene's test

It's more common (in English at least) to refer to the test as simply "Levene's test." Some sample sources below.

...for some reason my links aren't working in the link field. pasted here:

I think the simplest way to explain it is that Levene's test is technically a *type* of F test (an F test is a somewhat generic concept with many different specific cases), but it's not the most common type. If someone refers simply to an F test, they are probably talking about something other than Levene's test. On the other hand, there is only a single test called Levene's test, so referring to it as Levene's F test isn't any more specific.

Thanks Samantha. It's not really my field, hence my confusion. And I have found references to Levene's test and to F-test but are they the same?
Thank you very much Samantha
Thank you for your help and your very clear explanation of these terms.
Peer comment(s):

agree Charles Davis : Yes. "Levene's F-test" is not wrong but is liable to confuse, because when people say "F-test" they normally mean something different from Levene's test.

agree Francois Boye : To avoid a technical discussion, let's say that an F-test depends on an F random variable based on dividing two weighted random variables with each other

Not my subject, hence the 3, but Googling appears to confirm this.
