German term

"Der Auftragnehmer muss Bauraum und Störgeometrien bei der Erstellung von CAD-Modellen berücksichtigen."

Can anybody help? I would appreciate it.

Discussion

barbarameyer Oct 3, 2015:
non-standard or irregular geometry is what came to my mind when I first read the word Störgeometrie in the sentence posted. I googled for Störgeometrie, but wasn't able to find a definition or a description of the term, so my reading of the term may be entirely off the mark, I'm afraid.

geometric interference

Not my field, here's what I found by googling:

"Most CAD research problems deal with geometrical relations…A geometric interference of 2 bodies is defined as the 3D region commonly occupied by the two bodies, as shown in Fig. 3"

Collision detection among moving objects is a sub-area within the area of geometric interference among objects.

neutral barbarameyer : Good finds, no doubt, but without knowing what the ST precisely means or describes, we cannot possibly say for sure that Störgeometrie = geometric interference

Awkward shapes; interfering shapes, disturbing shapes....

Does that make sense? Bauraum: structural space. One wants to also take those shapes or forms into consideration that would be found disturbing, awkward, or interfering with something....

Shapes could also be "structures" for "Geometrien"

But because this trunion table is a problematic geometry for the milling procedures, it is enormously advantageous that they have been completely imaged in the CAD model and are thus subjected to constant collision checks in the Tebis Simulator.
