Jun 10, 2019 (posted via ProZ.com):  Translation of website content on mobile phone technology for a global brand, Japanese to English, 22,000 characters ...more, + 84 other entries »

I became a full-time freelance translator after gaining ten years of experience as a Japanese Studies research and communication expert. My PhD, a digital humanities project on the cultural economy of media in Japan, led me to specialize in academic and technical/IT translations.

This page describes my work in a little more detail, with links where possible and permitted.

General/technical translations (Japanese to English)/一般・IT翻訳(日英)

IT/tech materials: software manuals, FAQs, website texts, training and conference materials, news articles about technology

Website texts: web copy and news articles on IT and technology, economics, society, business, popular culture, and more

Marketing materials: presentations, leaflets, website texts

Academic translations (mainly Japanese to English)/学術翻訳(主に日英)

I've translated a wealth of academic materials: full-length articles mainly in the humanities and social sciences, conference programs, website texts for universities, news articles, and so on.

A few examples:

Suzuki, Midori. 2013. The possibilities of research on "fujoshi" in Japan. Transformative Works and Cultures, 12.

Hori, Akiko. 2013. On the response (or lack thereof) of Japanese fans to criticism that "yaoi" is antigay discrimination. Transformative Works and Cultures, 12.

Nakano, Haruyuki. 2010. “De Japanse markt voor digitale manga, gedragen door mobiele telefoons (The Japanese market for digital manga, supported by mobile phones).” Trans. Nele Noppe. Strip en illustratie in Belgie: een stand van zaken en de sociaaleconomische situatie van de sector.

Kawaguchi, Takayuki. 2010. “Barefoot Gen and ‘A-bomb Literature’.” Trans. Nele Noppe. Comics Worlds and the World of Comics: Towards Scholarship on a Global Scale.
